Since June 2022 Darren Nixon and I have each published a short video to Instagram every Friday as artist duo Rowland’s Leaving, a weekly shared practice that stems from our interest in world building, club culture and process-led work. To mark the release of our 100th video we are hosting an event to display all 100 IRL for the first time.

We don’t have 100 screens, but you do.

We invite you to become part of a communal resource by looping one of our videos on your phone. Phones will be installed safely (contained and monitored) in a gallery for one hour, enabling everyone present to experience a large body of moving image works simultaneously; a scale of presentation that is otherwise unobtainable outside of major institutional settings. Viewers will be forced to engage in the work without their phones, inviting exchange around communal experience online and in-person.

The event will also showcase a number of live one-minute adaptions of our videos, performed by a number of other artists and ourselves.
